Meet Stephen Yancey

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Clarence Yancey and Mildred Davis. Steve was raised in the West End of Louisville by his mother and grandparents Sam and Mary Davis. Steve and his family, Jennifer, and Parker, attend Saint Albert's. Steve's brother, Father Anthony Chandler, serves Holy Spirit. Steve is married to Jennifer Murzen Yancey.

Steve attended Bishop David High School in Louisville. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky Police Academy.

Upon returning to Louisville, Steve was hired by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office and served for almost 29 years. His last posts were that of Deputy Sheriff, he is also a former Sergeant and then a former Lieutenant. He maintained 40 hours of continuing education yearly to ensure his Law Enforcement certificate Steve currently works for Piedmont American Airlines and is a member of the Union CWA 3645.

Steve is a life long Democrat. As a strong advocate for public education, all of Steve's children have attended public schools including his youngest child who enters the third grade this year.

As a union member himself, Steve supports collective bargaining, prevailing wage, and a living wage not just a minimum wage. Steve is running to build a Sheriff's Office with integrity, honesty and a commitment to be a part of changing the culture and mindset of our youth in Jefferson County. Leading by example.
